Muzzle Loaders at Dusk

Jake And myself unloading our muzzle loaders after a fun afternoon of hunting. Also a picture of my new rifle (.308). Actually I purchased the rifle last month, the rifle has interchangeable barrels and I had gotten the muzzle loader version, but Michelle gave me a new barrel for Christmas. I Love Her More each year!!!

Been Busy

Started workin on the 4th bedroom in the house and have been busy at it. I have only lost my temper a few times and have hardly broken anything! Actually it is going smooth and I think it is going to be a great lair for my son, and then his Grandparents when they move in.

Hope all is well with everyone during this wonderful time of year, and I hope Santa brings you all what you need this Christmas, like a new rifle or new barrel for your new rifle(.308). Or even a tree stand, any kind of deer plot seed, rangefinder, ammo, camo clothing, scope, spotting scope, binoculars, ETC... Merry Christmas and God Bless us All!!!!!

First Virginia Deer

Shot a small buck this morning, thought it was a Doe but he had a couple of horns, need to get a better scope I think. Well after all the dust cleared I called home via Walkie talkie and talked to my Son Jake. I asked him to wake his Mom and have her drive my truck to where I was going to drag him out. Somehow in his thirteen year old mind he told his mom that I was at the end our road and to go pick me up. I was a good half mile from there, my wife being so sweet and helpful decided to try and turn my truck around on our dirt road and proceeded to get stuck in the wonderful red mud! Anyhow she was very upset and I talked to her the way a Husband usually does, and then quickly apologized. We got the truck unstuck using my ATV and she finally was happy that I bought it!

Went to pick my deer up that I left in the woods till we could get my truck, my loving wife came along to help, and there we were on the side of a country road, myself and my princess, in her Pajamas helping me load a deer into the back of my truck!

Trees Trees Trees

Had some trees removed from around the house this week,we hired a man (Cecil) who looks to be in his late sixties. He and his Son were next door putting in a septic system and he volunteered to take out the trees while they had their equipment up here. He did an awesome job and didn't charge us hardly anything for the amount of work he did. I did help a little and I think he might have charged me extra for that (LOL). Also had some help from Faith, who seems to want to use the Chainsaw!

Overnight visit

Went to my wife's cousin Larry's house yesterday for an overnight visit, Now Larry is one of the reasons why I wanted to move to Virginia, he is a down to Earth person that I Respect a lot. We have a bunch of discussions about how the world should be and we agree on most of it!

Well anyway I put my scouting camera up at his property yesterday to see what is living down there in Ararat. So this morning I drove my truck(in the pouring rain) with Daughter Haley with me and went to retrieve it, only to find a flock of Turkeys wandering through the trees, man if only I had a gun. But wait, I had my crossbow with me! So I snuck through the trees, caught up with them and was able to shoot one and now it is in the Fridge!

4 Wheeling

Picked my ATV up after having it tuned up and the carb set for the altitude, yes it is a little higher elevation here. Feels good to have it back being hunting season and all. It also good to see the kids settling in and accepting thier roles as Southerners. Where else in the world can you see a girl in a puffy pink dress riding an ATV!

Bump in the Road

Had a little problem with the home we are purchasing. The appraiser valued it $5000 less than the agreed upon price. Needless to say the builder was not happy (we were though), but hey do you want to sell it or not? After some more haggling, and whining (builder) he agreed, begrudgingly and very very upset.
Well any how I took the wife furniture shopping as we needed a new kitchen table, and she wanted an island thingy. After a a couple of stops at local furniture stores where the sales people followed you around (kind of creepy), we found the Holy Grail of Kitchen tables!
Any how they had Borkholder hand crafted furniture which carries a lifetime warranty! Whatever that means, All I can picture is a little Amish guy making furniture in his barn, but it all looked beautiful, and in ten to twelve weeks we will have a new kitchen table and an island thingy, all for a whole lot of money. Oh well I hope to never have to buy a table again. Then I think of all the hunting equipment I could have purchased, but that is being selfish (a Little)

Shoes

Found the box with my hiking shoes in it today along with a bunch of other shoes and sneakers. It is funny just how excited I got after wearing the same sneakers for over a month and a half. My feet are happy again!!! (and less smelly)

Natural Bridge Zoo

Took the Family to a zoo today, not a great zoo but it was still cool. We liked the Gibbons Ape the best it was like watching a trapeze person flipping around. The Elephant was red from the soil down here, it was a nice ride also.

Monday

Saw twelve deer and four turkeys today, it was a good day. Called Killingly today and talked to Stinger and Mike L, it was nice to talk to them.

On the other hand I found out that my wife is spending tens of dollars on YARN! I must figure out a way to stop her from spending my hunting money on that fibrous material. She is getting out of hand, must stop her.

Just read Tom Brady will be out for the season, BUMMER!
Oh well, twelve hour day today, seems that we are always two steps behind everything. No one is in a hurry, only a few seem to care.
On the up side, I am getting a new recliner on Friday!!!! Haven't been allowed to have one since Jake was crawling.

Good Day

Went down to the DMV and picked up my drivers license today, had to supply my old drivers license, birth cert, passport, and my Mothers left index finger including fingernail.
On the upside I was able to purchase my huntin/fishin license since I am now considered a VA resident! Picked Jakes up also, we are now part of the wildlife management control system for the state of Virginia ( Licensed Animal Hitmen).
We will try and do our part.
Also got Michelles car registered which was also fun only took about 1 1/2 hours, halfway there just my truck and Michelle's license to go: but that is another fun day I can't wait for.

Another Day At the Mill

Rain Good!

It has been the longest I have ever lived without rain, except for those long underway periods on the sturgeon being under water for months at a time. Think about that you young Punks in college right now thinking you have it rough, Sissies!
It rained on Aug. 6th when we left CT and then today here(three weeks).
Work was rough, glad to be home
