Ice Ice Baby!

Had a little wintry weather yesterday and today. Mostly rain but some ice, thankfully our power has stayed on. Not bad the end of January and our first winter storm, somewhat. Our road is ice covered and we are not going anywhere, even if we wanted to. What a great feeling to be stuck with no place to go. Sounds like a good time to take a nap.

We have adopted a couple of new pets that we have been feeding, they are yearling fawns, male and female twins. No Henry I didn't shoot them, they are too small even for me. Wait till November though.

Yellow Dog

It seems as though our wonderfully chubby dog "Otto" has also taken to country living out here in the Mountains. Don't know if anyone remembers the movie "Funny Farm" with the Yellow Lab that doesn't move too much, well if you do, that is Otto!

We were supposed to go to Charleston S.C. today to see Michelle's sister, but due to inclimate weather South of us, we have postponed the trip. We are all disappointed.

So Cold ?

The temps have dipped down into the 20's and the people down here are freakin out, schools closing, weathermen warning of frostbite. Can't wait to see what happens when it snows!

Now I never pretend to be a tough guy, but I was out doing some work in the yard wearing just a sweatshirt and vest, and was very comfortable. I guess next year will be different.

Also no matter who I ask no one will go ice fishing with me, they actually stare at me and tell me I am nuts to do that. I tell them they just haven't been bored enough during the winter months.

Last Day

Friday was my last day to deer hunt until OCT/NOV so I ended up taking all the kids with me including Faith who at Four years old cannot sit still. Anyhow while trying to get her to stay still, four deer walked by and continued on thier way. Oh well we had fun and Faith is always willing to pose for some photos.

Trees

Planted a few trees in the front yard and I had plenty of help!
Jake and I went out hunting this afternoon, he got a little ill with something we call "BUCK FEVER" and he missed a buck he was trying to put in the freezer, meanwhile after he shot, three deer scooted by me just shy of light speed so I sent a futile shot into a nearby stump about a millisecond behind the deer and they proceeded to the next county!
We went home laughing at our misfortune, but what fun we had. We walked behind our house and jumped six deer that were bedded down in our yard!
